Brief Biographical Summary:
Joan Na`u`oeokalikookalanialoha Sniffen Lindsey's roots reach back to Kohala on the island of Hawai`i where she spent time with her grandparents during her childhood. They taught her of things Hawaiian and nurtured her desire to learn hula. She was raised primarily by her Korean grandparents and began her hula training on O`ahu with her aunt Caroline Peters Tuck at the age of seventeen. She also studied under Lena Guerrero and Lökälia Montgomery. Auntie Joanie has taught in the Pearl City area for decades and continues to inspire and teach new generations of children a love of hula and Hawaiian culture.
